Tell Me If I'm Running

from Here. by Danny E Harris

lyrics

I push my patience to a Sunday
and think about those cold mornings on the subway
Where I would speed-check my own pace
If in a city of three million there's my own place

And was there any proof to back that?
I'd write a couple good lines, then backtrack
And now I'm running out of gas and my bank account is looking like a Monday morning class, yeah

What can I let em know?
It seems like everybody only wants a show
And I'm just here tryna act right,
like I got something in my act that'll last life

So tell me am I running?
And not just running 'way from something

I draw conclusions from a notebook
and reprimand solutions where I don't look
So is there something that I'm missing?
Because I'm always looking for permission

And I've been trippin' on my progress
Like everybody got it and I'm not next
Is it something I can earn, like a letter from a job or a kid waiting their turn?

So I'm not sure what I can let em know
It seems like everybody only wants a show
And I'm just here tryna act right
tryna find the dark with a flashlight

So tell me if I'm running
And not just running 'way from something
